How to Style a Concert T-shirt

1000005183.jpg

I styled a concert t-shirt with a little animal print skirt from Amazon.  My mom said that Korn could never be elegant, but I respectfully disagree!!  Also, I find that a little bandana (all from Walmart and under $2) can dress up a tee or a basic outfit.  We had our teacher district convocation, and I found a yellow headband they were selling at our district convocation, and wore it immediately.  Plus, a pop of color with cute earrings can also elevate an outfit and make it more fun and definitely colorful with a POP.

The Little Black Dress...How to Style the LBD for School, Casual, Date Nights, Somber Occasions...and More!

I bought a couple of LBD's from ThredUp; one from Chico's Travelers line and two Ming Wang's knits.  I will show you how I plan to wear my LBD to school (the Chico's Travelers line) to school, out on date night with my husband (we're usually in bed by 10, sorry ladies, no club nights anymore), to shopping on the weekends, to a somber occasion like a funeral, to traveling with your LBD to Europe!  Most likely, my husband and I will travel with our dogs somewhere in Texas, but hey, we can always dream, right?

Casual Fridays...or How I Make a School T-Shirt Fashionable...

It's not easy.  I have been there with you in the morning as you schlep out the door in a school t-shirt feeling underwhelmed and hoping you don't look as bad as you feel.  I Tr 29 years of teaching, I have finally come up with some solutions on how to make an unisex t-shirt look good on me and professional.  All of the items I am wearing in the following pictures, I bought at Cato, used on eBay, thrifted on ThredUp, or bought on Amazon.  The really cute book tees, I bought on Piper & Ivy.  Really, it comes down to accessories and standard tops and bottoms.  If, like me, you live in a place that Satan goes to hell to take a break from the heat, you might have to play around with the tops so you don't die of heat exhaustion.  If you are also post-menopausal, the hot flashes can kill you!  I just take off my jacket until it passes.

Closet Redo for after Fifty

9 Easy Steps:

 1. Get rid of everything that doesn't flatter you.  Donate the items or consign.

2. Designate areas in your closet for items. (shoes, dress pants, dresses, winter blazers, summer blazers, hang-around gear, nice tops, t-shirts, casual pants)

3. I chose around 7 colors to work my outfits around.  I chose black, white, tan, green, navy blue, royal blue, orange, and purple.

4. I bought one expensive navy blue pant, one black, one army green pant, 3 nice white shirts, and organized these.

5. I realized then I needed some blazers to tie all these together.  I went to ThredUp (an online thrifting store), and bought tan and black blazers.

6. I bought a summer black dress and a winter black dress.

7. I looked at my shoes and realized I needed a tan pair of penny loafers and some navy pumps.  I bought these at a thrift store.

8.  All of my things now mix and match!

9. Don't forget the jewelry! (how to mix and match jewelry is my next post!) STAY TUNED!
